First let’s distinguish the difference between confidence and faith.
Confidence → Trust in yourself, your skills, or past experience.
Faith → Trust in God, even when you can’t see the outcome.
👉 Confidence is “I can because I’ve prepared.” Faith is “I will because God promised.”
👉 “Confidence is trusting what you know — faith is trusting Who you know.”
Confidence is the visible result of faith. When you believe God is with you (faith), you can stand tall, speak boldly and act courageously (confidence).
In other words: Faith is the root, confidence is the fruit.
Introduction:
Confidence isn’t arrogance—it’s assurance.
True confidence isn’t rooted in ego but in identity.
Many people lose confidence because of the voices of others: opinions, insults, doubts.
But when your confidence comes is strong, no insult or opinion can shake you.
Point 1: Confidence to Ignore Opinions and Insults
Not everyone will believe in you, and not everyone has to.
Galatians 1:10 (NIV): “Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? … If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.”
Confidence means knowing who sent you and why you’re here, even if others don’t see it.
Example: from First Samuel.
David’s brothers mocked him when he stepped up to fight Goliath. They saw a shepherd boy; God saw a king. David ignored their opinions and stepped forward with confidence.
Inspirational Quote:"Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life." – Steve Jobs
One-liner: The loudest boos often come from the cheapest seats.
Point 2: Confidence to Try New Things
Confidence isn’t just defense (blocking insults)—it’s offense (stepping out boldly).
Philippians 4:13 (KJV): “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
Sometimes the biggest risk is not trying at all.
Confidence means you don’t need to be perfect to begin—you just need to begin.
Example:
Peter stepped out of the boat onto the water. He wasn’t perfect, but he had the confidence to try.
Even when he sank, Jesus was there to lift him. Confidence doesn’t mean you’ll never stumble—it means you’re not afraid to start.
Inspirational Quote:"You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take." – Wayne Gretzky
One-liner: Failure is not falling down; failure is refusing to get up.
Point 3: The Source of True Confidence
Confidence built on money, status, or popularity will crumble.
Confidence built on Christ stands unshakable.
Jeremiah 17:7 (NIV): “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.”
This is what I call Godfidence—confidence rooted in God, not self.
Inspirational Quote:"Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence." – Helen Keller
Closing Challenge:
Don’t let insults define you.
Don’t let fear of failure confine you.
Stand strong in who God made you to be, and step boldly into what He’s calling you to do.
Final Scripture:
Hebrews 10:35 (NIV): “So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.”
Takeaway Line: Confidence ignores the noise and steps into the new.
